Lebanese Foul Mesakhan (فول مسخن لبناني) is a beloved traditional breakfast dish made from fava beans (foul), simmered and mashed. Unlike some versions in neighboring countries, the Lebanese "mesakhan" style emphasizes deep flavor layering through sautéed aromatics and sometimes includes additional ingredients like tomatoes, onions, or chili for heat.

Step 1

In a pan, add the olive oil and onions and mix well then add the salt, pepper, sumac, pomegranate molasses and mix well.

Step 2

Top with the fava beans. Wait for the ingredients to cook together.

Step 3

Add it to the Saj bread and wrap it tightly.

Step 4

Finally, put the wraps in a preheated oven and cook for 7 mins at 180 degrees.
